- On Saturday, the match coincided with the 123rd birth-anniversary commemoration of Jaipal Singh Munda and was staged in Ranchi at the Morabadi AstroTurf Stadium, the 5,000-seater venue where SG Pipers faced JSW Soorma Hockey Club, last year's Women’s HIL runner-up.
- Penny Squibb opened the scoring from a penalty corner, Jyoti Singh soon dispossessed Shihori Oikawa to score, and with 10 minutes left Soorma replaced goalkeeper Nidhi before Sunelita Toppo scored into an empty net.
- Soorma's penalty-corner drought ended but their relief was short-lived as SG Pipers began the final quarter in commanding fashion, repeatedly testing Soorma's defence.
