Serial killer Steve Wright charged with murder of Victoria Hall in Suffolk
Steve Wright, serving a whole life sentence for five 2006 murders, faces trial for the 1999 killing of 17-year-old Victoria Hall, charged after a Suffolk police investigation.
- Following a Suffolk Constabulary investigation in May 2024, Steve Wright, 66, was charged with the kidnap and murder of Victoria Hall and is due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on February 2, 2026.
- Victoria Hall, 17, was last seen after a night out at the Bandbox nightclub in Felixstowe on September 19, 1999, and vanished while walking home with a friend before her body was found five days later in Creeting St Peter, around 25 miles away.
- Convicted in 2008, Steve Wright was found guilty of murdering Tania Nicol, Gemma Adams, Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls, killed over a ten day period in December 2006, and received a whole-life order.
- Mr Justice Bennathan ruled that jurors may learn of Wright’s previous convictions for five other murders, while Wright appeared by videolink from HMP Long Lartin, Worcestershire; the court noted juries are usually not told to avoid prejudice.
- The alleged offence dates back more than 25 years, making the Victoria Hall case a long-cold case reopened by prosecutors and predating Steve Wright’s 2006 Ipswich murders by seven years.
