Senior run down in Vancouver vehicle rampage dies in hospital
Police say prosecutors are reviewing additional charges after a 34-year-old suspect was already accused of four counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
A 75-year-old man has died from injuries sustained during a vehicle ramming in Vancouver's West End on May 15, with police confirming the death occurred on May 24 after the victim was struck while riding his motorized scooter.
Police received reports of a vehicle 'driving erratically' near Comox and Broughton streets, striking numerous objects including the Nelson Park dog area before the suspect was stopped after ramming a police cruiser and flipping his own vehicle.
Two police officers were injured, including a recruit constable on his second day of work; suspect Tadd Bali, 34, faces four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and had 'extensive interactions with police' in B.C. and Saskatchewan.
Prosecutors have been informed of the death and are considering additional charges against Bali, with Vancouver Police submitting evidence to Crown counsel as the suspect's charges may change following the victim's passing.
Investigators are examining mental health and drug use as possible contributing factors in the ramming, while the suspect remains in custody and a memorial established by the victim's son marks the incident location at Comox and Bute streets.
