27 senatorial seats are up for grabs in the 2026 Senate elections. Will any of the candidates be elected in the first round? The second round of the Senate elections will take place on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17, at the same times as last year.
While the final figures for the entire country will be published by the Statistical Office on Sunday morning, most of the unofficial results will be processed by commissions on Saturday evening. In addition to the filling of town halls in more than 6,200 municipalities and a third of the seats in the Senate, voters also decided in dozens of local referendums.
The Czech Republic is electing its representatives to the Senate in a total of 27 districts. Polling stations are open until 2 p.m. today, after which the vote counting will begin. If none of the candidates receives an absolute majority of the votes cast, a second round will be held exactly one week later. At least in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, this scenario will not happen. It is the only district where there are only two candidates.
