2 Bodies, Including that of Young Girl, Found Along California Channel
Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found dead near the channel, a day after a woman’s body was discovered nearby.
Authorities are investigating the discovery of two bodies in the Dominguez Channel in Carson over a two-day period, including the remains of a young girl.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified remains found Tuesday near Victoria Park Golf Course as a girl between 6 and 13 years old, weighing 59 pounds with brown eyes and hair.
Deputies responded Wednesday morning to a second body discovered in the 2100 block of East Sepulveda Boulevard; the Los Angeles County Fire Department assisted with removing the adult male remains from rocks along the channel.
Kari Mercer, a Sheriff's Department spokesperson, said there is "no evidence connecting the two death investigations at this time," though both cases remain under investigation by the LASD Homicide Bureau.
Officials from the Carson Sheriff's Station and the city of Carson scheduled a news conference for Thursday morning to provide further details about both ongoing death investigations.
