Scottie Scheffler targets Tiger Woods at BMW Championship
Scheffler is $1.0 million from Woods’ PGA Tour mark after an eight-shot win at the St. Jude Championship revived his season.
Scottie Scheffler is on the cusp of passing Tiger Woods' PGA Tour career earnings record, sitting at $119,964,411 versus Woods' $120,999,166 after winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis last week.
Woods took the top spot on the career money list on Feb. 13, 2000, at the Buick Invitational and has held the record for more than 26 years, a testament to his professional dominance.
Scheffler earned $3.6 million last week in Memphis, bringing him within $1,034,756 of the record while reaching this total in fewer than 168 starts compared to Woods' 378 starts and 82 victories.
The BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club this week offers Scheffler an opportunity to surpass Woods, with the Tour Championship following at $40 million purse.
Scheffler credits Woods for elevating tour purses, saying "Tiger did a lot for the game of golf," and remains focused on competing against top players, including returning LIV Golf competitors.
