Vaccination has little impact on post-COVID smell and taste issues, study shows
Researchers examining whether COVID-19 vaccination affects persistent smell or taste problems after contracting the virus have found that, in most cases, it does not. Dr. Daniel Hwang from The University of Queensland's Institute for Molecular Bioscience led an international research team to investigate changes in smell and taste following COVID-19 vaccination, particularly among people who experienced persistent sensory changes after contractin…
Scientists discover why some people still can’t taste food after COVID-19
Scientists have uncovered a possible explanation for why some people struggle to taste food more than a year after recovering from COVID-19. By examining taste buds from patients with lingering symptoms, researchers discovered molecular abnormalities that weaken the signals responsible for detecting sweet, bitter, and savory flavors.
Some people continue to have problems with the perception of food taste even more than a year after infection with COVID-19. Researchers have identified changes in taste buds, which could explain the persistence of this symptom.
Loss of taste after VOCID-19 may persist for more than a year in some people. A new study has identified molecular and structural changes in taste buds, which could explain why certain tastes are perceived harder even after removal of the virus from the body. A team of researchers from Colorado Anschutz University [...] Article Loss of taste after VOCID-19: researchers discovered changes in taste buds first appeared in Sibiu 100.
