SWARM Biotactics has developed programmable swarms of cyborg insects for military reconnaissance. The company says the devices have already been deployed by NATO customers, including the Bundeswehr. The technology uses miniature electronics mounted on live insects to provide real-time situational awareness in environments that traditional drones and ground robots have difficulty accessing, Army Recognition reported.
