- While visible to the naked eye, Saturn requires a telescope to view its rings; the planet reaches opposition on October 4, when it will appear largest and brightest in the sky.
- Neptune will also appear near the Harvest Moon, though the faint gas giant is difficult to see without optical aid, and the full moon reaches its peak at 12:49 a.m. on Sunday, September 27.
- Three additional full moons remain for 2026, including supermoons in November and December that will appear larger and brighter than usual as they reach their closest point to Earth in orbit.
