SNL 52: Saidah Belo-Osagie & Grace Reiter Set as Featured Players
The additions come after SNL lost two cast members and sought to restore Black female representation, with a new title sequence possibly filming soon.
On Wednesday, NBC confirmed that comedians Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter will join Saturday Night Live as featured players for the show's upcoming 52nd season.
SNL executives evaluated more than a dozen comedians during auditions held in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago earlier this summer to fill vacancies left by recent departures.
Belo-Osagie's addition restores Black female representation to the cast after Ego Nwodim's departure left the show without a Black woman among regular players during Season 51.
These hirings follow the departures of long-time cast member Chloe Fineman after seven seasons and writer Martin Herlihy after five seasons as the show reshapes its lineup.
The new season kicks off on September 26 with New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson hosting and KATSEYE making their debut as the musical guest.
