Galaxy 1 and Viasat “Validate Velaris Satcom Services for eVTOLs and Autonomous Delivery Aircraft”

Summary
Galaxy 1 and Viasat report they have validated the operational and commercial capabilities  of the Viasat satcom services platform to support production service delivery. The transition establishes a scalable foundation for commercial growth beyond connectivity alone. Viasat is currently scaling Velaris using its L-band satellite capabilities to enable next generation aviation: including autonomous delivery aircraft for logistics and medicine, flying taxis, and inspection aircraft for emergencies and industrial applications in remote locations, say the companies.

Galaxy 1 and Viasat “validate Velaris satcom services for eVTOLs and autonomous delivery aircraft”

The production agreement will see Galaxy 1 provide the partner enablement platform required for commercial growth, including; operational support and commercial enablement (Supporting efficient onboarding, providing provisioning, billing, and reporting to support commercial models); infrastructure and service management (Providing network infrastructure, remote terminal management through Galaxy 1’s RTM platform, and operational capabilities to activate, monitor, configure and manage UAV services, including incident management and service restoration) and integration, automation and visibility (Integration, automation and scalability – enabling API integration with third-party UAV applications and partner platforms, operational visibility and terminal lifecycle management, and increasingly automated, scalable service delivery). Martyn Durrant, Chief Commercial Officer, Galaxy 1 Communications, said: “Moving into production is an important milestone and a strong validation of the platform we have developed with Viasat over the past two years. Our objective was never simply to provide satellite connectivity, but to establish the operational and commercial infrastructure needed to support a scalable UAV and Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem. This agreement demonstrates the value of that approach and provides an exciting foundation for the next phase of growth.” For more information www.viasat.com (Image: Viasat)
