Police officers in Sarasota, Florida, ran toward a fire at a motel to evacuate guests on Saturday, September 12. The Sarasota Police Department (SPD) released this bodycam footage showing officers shouting at guests to leave their rooms. According to the department, just before 7 am on Saturday, officers responded to reports of a fire. “When they arrived, officers immediately began evacuating the motel, going room to room to make sure everyone had made it out safely,” SPD wrote on Facebook. Citing the Sarasota County Fire Department, SPD said “preliminary information indicates the fire began in one unit of the seven-unit, single-story structure before spreading into the attic.” One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
