Sandra Bullock Gets Candid About 'Really Dark' Time After Ex's Betrayal
Sandra Bullock says Jesse James’s infidelity forced her to protect her newborn son and rethink fame while her divorce became public.
Actress Sandra Bullock reflected on her 2010 divorce from Jesse James, describing the period following his infidelity as a "really dark time in my life" that became a public spectacle.
During that turmoil, Bullock fiercely protected her newborn son, Louis, devising an escape plan to avoid paparazzi. "I was raising and protecting a little smurf while I was trying to grieve," she said.
Bullock connected that isolation to her role in Gravity, calling the 2013 film her most meaningful project. She told Jennifer Aniston she had to "operate like the CIA" to maintain privacy.
Years later, Bullock adopted daughter Laila in 2015 and found love with photographer Bryan Randall, who remained her partner until his death from ALS in 2023 at 57.
Now, Bullock prioritizes her children over her acting career, explaining she lacks the same drive for film roles. "The older they get, the bigger their schedules," the mother-of-two said.
