Family Reunites with Dog Missing for Three Years

On September 9, a San Diego, California family reunited with their missing Maltipoo, Colby, after Humane Law Enforcement officers discovered the abandoned animal at a safe sleeping site.
Humane Law Enforcement officers found the animal on September 8 at 2209 Kincaid Road; a microchip scan revealed Colby had been reported missing since September 27, 2023.
Colby arrived flea-infested with a skin infection beneath matted fur. The San Diego Humane Society medical team provided grooming, vaccines, and a wellness check to prepare him for homecoming.
"We're just so happy today that we got our Colby back after three years," owner Cindy said. She and her son, Gregory, gathered supplies overnight before his return.
Animal welfare officials emphasized that microchips work, though keeping contact details current remains essential. The family also opted to have Colby neutered before bringing him home.
