Sal Stewart’s 3-Run Homer Helps the Reds Rally to Beat the Cardinals 5-4
Sal Stewart hit a three-run homer and the Reds scored twice more in the eighth to erase an early deficit.
On Wednesday, the Cincinnati Reds rallied to defeat the Cardinals 5-4 at Great American Ball Park, sparked by Sal Stewart's 27th home run traveling 422 feet.
After a 3-0 loss on Tuesday, the Reds offense rebounded with support from starter Chase Burns, who struck out 8 and threw 104 pitches over 5 innings.
Contributing to the rally, Matt McLain reached on a throwing error allowing Jose Trevino to score, while Dane Myers added a run-scoring bunt.
With a 5-4 lead in the 9th inning, closer Emilio Pagan allowed a 25th home run to Jordan Walker but secured the win by retiring Masyn Winn.
The Reds and Cardinals conclude their five-game series on Thursday, with Reds pitcher Brady Singer facing Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy.
