S.A.F.E. Structure Advances U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Tasked Gallium Recovery Pilot to Strengthen America's Critical Minerals Supply Chain
The pilot will test modular equipment on domestic feedstocks and build a repeatable recovery process, officials said.
On Thursday, Las Vegas-based SAFE Structure Designs announced it is advancing a gallium recovery pilot following tasking from the United States Army Corps of Engineers to strengthen domestic critical minerals supply chains.
The initiative aims to transition laboratory-proven processing technology into practical field capability, focusing on recovering gallium from domestic feedstocks, including gold-mine tailings, to establish a foundation for future production.
Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, Nevada Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony, and Representative Dina Titus support the effort, bringing Republican and Democratic leaders together to expand American manufacturing opportunities.
SAFE intends to engage the Higher Education Board to develop technical training and career pathways, preparing students to manufacture, operate, and maintain domestic recovery systems.
The Defense Logistics Agency expressed interest in the technology's development. CEO Johnny Buscema said, "This effort brings together American manufacturing," emphasizing the work is guided by faith and service.
