The development of the satellite network is faster than initially assumed
Russia is making rapid progress in developing a satellite internet network that could put an end to Ukraine's advantage on the battlefield thanks to Starlink's use.
Russia wants its own Starlink, and for Ukraine and NATO's eastern flank this can change the rules of war with drones. According to Politico, Moscow accelerates the Rassvet project, developed by Bureau 1440, and Ukrainian officials say that the program is advancing "more quickly than originally planned." The first 16 satellites were launched in March, and Russia wants over 250-290 operational satellites by 2027 and nearly 900 by 2035.
Russia is accelerating the development of its own low-orbit satellite system, which could leave Ukraine vulnerable to further attacks.
