More than 422,000 people signed contracts with the Russian armed forces in 2025, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to figures published by the Kremlin’s senior official, Dmitri Medvedev (via Reuters). At a meeting of security officials held on Friday, Medvedev stated that 422,704 recruits had enlisted in the army by contract, compared with some 450,000 registered in 2024.
