Russia accuses Ukraine of terrorism in Sea of Azov as Kyiv opens new front in war
Ukraine said the nine-day maritime drone campaign has struck 116 Russian vessels and is aimed at cutting military supply lines and oil exports.
- On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Ukrainian drones struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat complex in Bashkortostan and the Afipsky refinery in Krasnodar Krai, sparking powerful fires 1,300 km from the war zone.
- The Salavat complex refines 7.2 million tons of crude annually, representing 2.7% of Russia's total refining capacity; Afipsky, located around 400 km from the front, has endured at least eight drone strikes since May 2023.
- Ukraine's deep-strike campaign has idled more than 40% of Russia's refining capacity, pushing processing to a 21-year low. Authorities introduced fuel rationing in dozens of regions since early June to maintain domestic supply.
- Bashkortostan head Radiy Khabirov claimed a "massive attack" was repelled, attributing smoke to falling drone debris. Regional authorities separately reported debris damaged 16 properties near Afipsky, leaving one person injured.
- With strikes now reaching 2,500 km away, no major Russian gasoline producer remains beyond drone range. Officials note a monthly shortage of 400,000-600,000 tons, which Belarusian and Kazakh supplies currently cover only halfway.
