Russell Brand denies all charges as he takes the stand at his rape and sex assault trial
Brand denied all charges as prosecutors said six women accused him of sexual misconduct over a 10-year span.
Actor-Comedian Russell Brand appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on Wednesday to deny charges of rape and sexual assault, telling reporters "today is the day for truth and justice."
Prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones alleged Brand was "ruthless," "calculating," and "manipulative," presenting a case built on testimony from six women who claim sexual misconduct occurred between 1999 and 2009.
Questioned by his lawyer, Ian Winter, Brand testified the allegations had a "devastating" impact, including Great Ormond Street Hospital forbidding him from staying with his son during open heart surgery in 2023.
During cross-examination, Brand denied forcing women to do anything against their will, with alleged incidents cited as occurring in hotel rooms, MTV offices, and a London bar.
Brand previously starred in Hollywood films including "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him to the Greek" before relocating to Florida, where he built an online following centered on religious devotion and wellness content.
