France are set to be without a host of their first-choice players for their Nations Championship opener with New Zealand, after the French Rugby Federation (FFR) and the French rugby league (LNR) announced an agreement on Tuesday. The FFR and the LNR have drawn up a new convention, which sets the number of players selected by Fabien Galthie at 42. The scheme must preserve the interests of the French team as well as those of professional clubs.
In particular, the French XV rider will always be able to count on a group of 42 players at each beginning of the rally until 2031, according to the new contract signed between the French Federation and the National League.
