Rome man rescued after boat hits rocks on Oneida Lake, deputies say
Sylvan Beach, N.Y. — A boater was rescued Saturday afternoon after his boat hit submerged rocks and became grounded on Oneida Lake, deputies said. Around 2 p.m., the sheriff’s marine patrol went to a boat accident near the breakwater by Buoy 106, according to a news release from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
One rescued off Oneida Lake in Sylvan Beach
Authorities said they were alerted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 after a boat had struck the rock pile. Authorities said the firefighters took their rescue boat onto Oneida Lake and were able to make contact with the sole occupant of the boat, who stated that his vessel was heavily damaged and sinking.
