Rockstar Workers in the UK Will Hold a Union Vote Just as GTA 6 Is Released
Workers are seeking recognition to negotiate pay, overtime, redundancies, flexible working and generative artificial intelligence policies.
UK workers at Rockstar Games will vote on establishing a union with the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain from November 12 through 26, with the ballot period coinciding with GTA 6's launch on November 19.
The Independent Workers Union brought a complaint after Rockstar fired 31 employees in October 2025, most of whom were union members or organizing. Rockstar maintains the terminations were for "Gross misconduct, and for no other reason."
An employment tribunal regarding the labor dispute is currently ongoing in recent weeks, revealing a "mole" in the union Discord server who allegedly leaked secrets to Rockstar in exchange for time off.
If successful, the Rockstar Game Workers Union would become the largest recognized video game sector union in Great Britain. "We go where the team goes," Jennifer Kolbe, head of publishing at Rockstar, told Bloomberg's Jason Schreier.
Closing submissions in the ongoing employment tribunal are expected on November 17 or 18, just before GTA 6's launch, concluding a legal case alleging union-busting at the developer.
