I thought of Jackson Pollock as I watched Seido Suzuki Roshi paint calligraphy characters on the floor of Rhymesayers’ former Fifth Element record store on Hennepin Avenue last Friday. Dipping his brush into a bucket of black ink, he moved quickly across the oversized paper spread out on the floor.
