The Big Plastic Count: Survey shows 'recycling doesn't work'

Survey involved nearly 100,000 households documenting the type and amount of plastic they dispose of for seven days. Of the plastic, 83% was from food and drink packaging waste. Official figures state that 45% of our recycling is transported overseas. Survey by Greenpeace and Everyday Plastic reveals scale of plastic waste. Just 12 per cent of single-use packaging used in homes is sent for recycling.
