Chicago Bears Legend Steve "Mongo" McMichael Posthumously Diagnosed with CTE

  • Misty McMichael donated her husband's brain to inspire new research into the link between CTE and ALS. "I donated Steve's brain to inspire new research into the link between them," she said in a statement released by the foundation.
  • Chris Nowinski, CEO of the Concussion & CTE Foundation, praised McMichael's legacy, noting that many former '85 Bears teammates are raising funds and volunteering to participate in CTE research to create a brighter future for athletes.
