Replacement wheelchair on the way after disabled St. Cloud dog’s chair stolen
Ruck9 ordered and shipped a new pink wheelchair after the $800 custom chair was stolen, and donations will help cover Baby’s care.
On August 19, an unknown thief stole an $800 custom wheelchair from the porch of The Pittie Party of Central Florida in St. Cloud, leaving Baby, a disabled hospice pit bull, without her mobility device.
Without the specialized equipment, Baby cannot move, interact with other dogs, or relieve herself without assistance; founder Sarah Schmidt discovered the theft after leaving the chair on the porch.
Nonprofit RUCK9 ordered and shipped a replacement pink wheelchair for Baby following public outreach, while community members contributed donations to cover replacement costs.
Donors have largely declined refund offers, asking instead that contributions remain for Baby's continued care; Schmidt noted remaining funds will support other special-needs hospice animals at the rescue.
St. Cloud Police Chief Douglas Goerke continues to seek information regarding the theft, and while the original wheelchair remains missing, Baby is expected to regain her mobility soon with the new equipment.
