Remains of Grandmother Who "Vanished" in 2019 Found Near Massachusetts Highway
The FBI matched the remains to Sandra Crispo, 54, after a hunter found a portion of a skull and investigators launched forensic testing.
On Tuesday, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz officially confirmed that human remains discovered in Plymouth last year belong to Sandra Crispo, a 54-year-old Hanson woman who vanished in August 2019.
A hunter scouting for deer antlers on March 6, 2025, discovered a human skull along a trail near Route 3 between Exits 13 and 14 in Plymouth, prompting an extensive search by state police.
Crispo was last seen on August 7, 2019, when a family member dropped her off at her Spofford Avenue home in Hanson; her daughter Laina McMahon found it empty two days later with the back door unlocked.
Cruz's office stated law enforcement has conducted an exhaustive investigation including forensic testing and searches; the cause of death remains unreleased, though the case is active and ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about suspicious activity along Route 3 North in August 2019 to contact Hanson Police at 781-293-4625 or Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.
