REM power failure forces passengers to walk on rails to next station after midnight
REM service interruptions late Saturday night and early Sunday morning resulted in many passengers being stranded on trains for almost an hour after midnight before walking along tracks to the next station.
Dozens of REM passengers had a long wait, on the night of Friday to Saturday. First stuck in a car that broke down for about 40 minutes, they were forced to walk close to a kilometer in the tunnel to reach the next station... and finally manage to get home alone, in the middle of the night.
REM stoppage left passengers stranded
A stoppage on the REM on Friday night, between McGill and Édouard‑Montpetit, forced passengers to walk for a kilometre to get out of the tunnel. And then no emergency shuttles were provided to resume the route. Pulsar, the company that runs the REM, says four trains were affected by the outage. La Presse also notes another outage happened Saturday night.
