Overcrowded prisons are a serious problem in Argentina, not only because of the living conditions of people deprived of liberty, but mainly because of its involvement in daily crime: fewer prison places in penitentiary units, more parolees to balance the system. This opens the so-called 'revolving door' and its effects reach the streets due to the repetition of acts committed by those who, despite being implicated in several cases, remained free.
