Red Sox Say Mickey Gasper Has Undergone Successful Right Biceps Tendon Repair – WTOP News
Dr. Matthew Leibman performed the procedure, which carries a 4-6 month recovery timetable, after Gasper was sidelined for the Red Sox's playoff roster.
The Boston Red Sox announced Friday that Mickey Gasper underwent successful surgery to repair a torn Distal Biceps tendon at MassGeneral Brigham in Boston.
Gasper suffered the season-ending injury during an at-bat on Sept. 25 while playing against the Chicago Cubs in the final regular-season series.
A New Hampshire native who appeared in 67 games this season, Gasper produced strong results after his second recall from Triple-A Worcester, recording 10 home runs.
The injury forced Gasper to miss the American League Wild Card Series, which the Red Sox lost to the New York Yankees.
Dr. Matthew Leibman performed the procedure at MassGeneral Brigham, carrying a recovery timetable of four to six months, though studies suggest six to nine months for full athletic return.
