Rechargeable Hand Warmers Recalled Due to Risk of Fire and Burn Hazards
The CPSC said about 77,000 units were sold in the U.S. and Canada, and consumers should stop using them and seek refunds.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled HotHands-branded rechargeable hand warmers over concerns they could catch fire or cause burn injuries due to lithium-ion battery hazards.
Retailers including Target, Home Depot, Meijer, and Bass Pro Shops, as well as Amazon, sold the units from July 2025 through August 2026. The agency estimated approximately 77,000 were sold in the U.S. and 72 in Canada.
Identified by model number "H163650," the white and orange warmers feature a USB-C port and magnetic design, selling for between $30 and $40 per pack.
Anyone with a unit should stop using it immediately, as lithium-ion batteries present a greater fire risk than other batteries. Owners must dispose of recalled products per local and state hazardous waste regulations, not household trash.
No injuries have been reported, but owners should contact The Kobayashi for a full refund by calling 866-534-9986 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or via email for a claim number.
