For the first time, the Generalitat of Catalonia has sanctioned a real estate agency for discrimination. It has fined it 10,000 euros for refusing to rent a home in Matarón (Barcelona) to a man of Moroccan origin and his family, even though it met the requirements.
The Catalan government has imposed a €10,001 fine on a real estate agency for a case of racism in the rental process, in which a Moroccan resident of Mataró (Barcelona) named Hamid was the victim. This was announced by the Desca Observatory, the organization that supported the victim throughout the complaint process.
