Rangers support an independent Scottish Football Association review after violent clashes and pitch invasion at Old Firm match caused injuries and nine arrests.
- On Sunday, violence erupted at Ibrox Stadium during the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup Quarter-Final when Celtic defeated Rangers 4-2 on penalties. Fans invaded the pitch and threw missiles, including a lit flare, causing widespread disorder.
- The Broomloan Stand, housing over 7,500 Celtic fans, suffered substantial damage as vandals scrawled graffiti mocking the 1971 Ibrox Disaster, which claimed 66 lives. Nine arrests were made following the appalling incidents.
- Rangers condemned the "disgraceful scenes" on Thursday, backing a fully independent review into matchday safety. The club insisted "they will not accept a narrative that ignores the full context of what happened."
- Police Scotland Chief Constable Jo Farrell criticized the clubs for failing to condemn the violence, prompting a rebuttal from Celtic chairman Brian Wilson. Wilson argued that "actions that matter," not statements, resolve such incidents.
- The SFA Compliance Officer is collating evidence for potential breaches under the Judicial Panel Protocol. An independent review will seek recommendations to ensure no repeat of the events that tarnished the game's reputation.
