The Samajwadi Party has announced Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav and Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani as its official candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. Both candidates will file their nomination papers today at 11 am.

SP MLAs gathered at the party office on Tuesday and signed as proposers on Yadav’s nomination papers after a meeting of legislators. The party is fielding three candidates for the biennial elections to 10 Rajya Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh, with polling scheduled for October 16 if required.
Samajwadi Party has only one seat out of the 10 Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant in Uttar Pradesh.
SP leader Professor Ramgopal Yadav will file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections on Wednesday, while suspense remains over the remaining two names.
