Rail services disrupted across Essex after person hit by train
Police confirmed one person died after being hit by a train, and Greater Anglia said only two of four lines remained open.
A person died after being hit by a train at Chadwell Heath Railway Station on Thursday, August 13, triggering significant rail disruption across Essex.
British Transport Police confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Paramedics attended the scene following the casualty report.
Greater Anglia services were delayed or cancelled after the incident forced closure of lines between Stratford and Shenfield. Routes to Colchester Town, Braintree, Clacton-on-Sea, and Southend Victoria remain affected.
Passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more are encouraged to submit claims through the Delay Repay scheme. Tickets are accepted on alternative routes including the Elizabeth line, Circle line, and Jubilee line.
