Conmebol organizes meeting with authorities to discuss cases of racism

Prosecutors assess that responses to episodes of racist attacks have been 'superficial and unconcreted'

The request is made after the advance of President Alejandro Domínguez in the ceremony of the draws of the Libertadores and South American Cups. The conclave will be on Thursday, March 27 at the headquarters of Asunción, Paraguay.

The organization believes that the meeting can help promote concrete measures for a more inclusive environment in South American football, following recent manifestations of racism, discrimination and violence

The initiative comes at a time of growing concern about cases of racism and violent acts in matches played in tournaments organized by the entity

Last year, a total of 1,647 cases of racism were reported to the anti-racism advice center ZARA. This represents an increase of 345 cases compared to the previous year.
