Putin congratulates 'dear friend' Erdogan for winning Turkish election
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election, saying the win was evidence of the Turkish people's support for Erdogan's independent foreign policy and contribution to strengthening friendly Russian-Turkish relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.
US President Joe Biden also congratulated Erdogan, expressing a desire to work together on "shared global challenges" as NATO allies, without mentioning recent tensions in the bilateral relationship.
In a telephone conversation, Chancellor Scholz congratulated the old and new Turkish President Erdoğan on his election victory. The discussion focused on “common focal points.”
