Prominent Miami defense lawyer charged in DEA bribery scheme
Federal prosecutors have charged David Macey, a prominent Miami defense attorney, with orchestrating a bribery conspiracy involving two former DEA supervisors who leaked confidential information about drug investigations.
Prosecutors accused Macey of lavishing the agents with gifts and cash, including $2,000 on Yankees-Red Sox tickets and a dinner, to obtain sensitive information regarding drug investigations.
Prosecutors called the attorneys' communications "integral to the bribery scheme" following the 2023 convictions of former DEA agents for bribery and wire fraud.
Defense attorney David Patton stated, "He did not bribe anyone. The government’s allegations are false, and we are confident that the evidence will prove his innocence at trial.
