Pritzker outlines third-term priorities following historic election win
The governor said the proposals are aimed at congressional Democrats as they take control of both chambers and begin advancing his priorities.
On Wednesday, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker unveiled a 200-point policy agenda titled "Fighting for Illinois: The Day One Agenda," urging Congress to implement the proposals immediately upon taking office on January 3.
The 75-page playbook targets Trump administration policies, demanding reversal of Medicaid and SNAP funding cuts while proposing higher federal wages and expanded healthcare access to repair federal programs damaged over two years.
Senator Tammy Duckworth and Senator-elect Juliana Stratton joined Pritzker to announce the initiative, combining legislative requests and executive actions to hold the administration accountable while delivering results for middle-class families.
While national speculation mounts about a potential 2028 presidential bid, Pritzker said he "appreciates" the questions but remains focused on Illinois priorities, suggesting the current president might be willing to compromise.
Looking ahead to the November 17 veto session, the administration will balance federal advocacy with state-level priorities, including data center regulations and negotiations to keep the Chicago Bears in Illinois.
