Prince William, Kate Middleton step out at Buckingham Palace garden party
On Friday, May 8, 2026, Prince William and Princess Catherine hosted a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, joined by Zara Tindall and the Duchess of Edinburgh to greet guests.
Garden Parties reward public service, a tradition dating back to the 1860s, with the Royal Family hosting approximately 10,000 guests at each event to recognize community contributions.
Catherine debuted a new Self-Portrait dress at the party and shared her recent interest in padel, calling it a "great game for non-tennis players."
The Princess met dance teacher Leanne Lucas, a survivor of the Southport knife attack, who noted the royal was "so happy to see me full of energy."
Catherine will visit Italy next week to explore the Centre for Early Childhood's approach to supporting children's development through nature and human connection.
