Prime Video releases trailer for 2-part Melania Trump series
The two-episode follow-up adds never-before-seen footage and focuses on her transition into the role of First Lady.
Amazon Prime Video set November 20 for the premiere of Melania, The Series, a two-episode docuseries featuring First Lady Melania Trump. The project includes bonus footage captured by director Brett Ratner during the days following the 47th Presidential Inauguration.
The docuseries follows the theatrical documentary Melania, released January 30 and streamed March 9, both directed by Ratner. Both projects feature content never before shared with the public.
While Amazon paid $40 million for rights and $35 million for marketing, the original film grossed about $16 million worldwide. The studio failed to recoup its theatrical investment despite outperforming documentary expectations.
Episode one, Family & Trust, follows Melania as she prepares to become First Lady, while Pride & Honor captures moments after the inauguration as she sets her mission in motion.
Variety film critic Owen Gleiberman previously called the theatrical film an "orchestrated" infomercial, and the new trailer has drawn skepticism from television critics. The release follows the First Lady's recent diplomatic activity.
