Governor-backed bill that would address New Mexico’s pretrial detention system tabled

Summary by Ground News
A crime bill sponsored by a Republican and backed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham stalled in the Roundhouse again. The bill aims to address the so-called revolving door of accused offenders getting back on the streets while waiting for trial. If passed, Senate Bill 122 would presume an accused violent offender should stay in jail until trial.
