The registration center in Ter Apel is once again hosting more than the permitted number of asylum seekers. On Monday night, 2,048 people were staying there, while the maximum capacity is 2,000. As a result, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) has been fined €50,000 by the municipality of Westerwolde.
