Porter Martone is captain of Canada’s 2026 World Junior team with leadership experience and a goal to improve after last year’s quarterfinal exit, Hockey Canada said.
- On Thursday, Hockey Canada named Porter Martone, a Philadelphia Flyers first-round pick and Michigan State forward, captain at its World Junior camp in Niagara Falls.
- Drawing on his Hockey Canada history, Martone's captaincy with Brampton and gold at the 2024 under-18 world championship reflect his sustained leadership in the Program of Excellence.
- Statistically, Martone leads Michigan State Spartans with 11 goals and 20 points through 16 games, and scored in three of five games at the 2025 IIHF senior World Championships.
- Several Flyers prospects will wear leadership letters for Canada, with Jett Luchanko joining Porter Martone as the team opens against Czechia Dec. 26 at 8:30 p.m. in Minnesota.
