Victim identified, witnesses sought in B.C. homicide investigation
Investigators say Larry Greig died after a fight near a licensed establishment and are seeking witnesses seen in the area.
- The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team publicly identified 75-year-old Larry Greig as the victim of a fatal assault in Langley, British Columbia, on Canada Day. Greig was found near Park Avenue and Douglas Crescent and died in hospital on July 9.
- Investigators believe Greig became involved in a "physical altercation" shortly after leaving a "licensed establishment" on the evening of July 1. Police responded to distress reports near Park Avenue and Douglas Crescent at approximately 9:48 p.m.
- To advance the investigation, IHIT released photos of three men and a woman believed to have been in the area, seeking potential witnesses to the fatal assault. Police did not name the licensed establishment where the incident originated.
- The homicide team is working with Langley RCMP, forensic identification services, and the British Columbia Coroners Service to determine circumstances surrounding the death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-4448.
- Police released Greig's name on Wednesday to generate new leads in the ongoing case. While no suspects have been named, investigators continue analyzing evidence from the Canada Day incident to determine what occurred after the victim left the licensed venue.
