Police investigate burglary at Man United captain Fernandes' house, Athletic reports
Police are reviewing CCTV and seeking witnesses after three masked burglars stole items from the luxury property in a break-in that lasted minutes.
- Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes urged the club to stop "living off the past" following Wednesday's humiliating 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como. He told Sky that the team must "look to the future" and create something different in the present.
- The result extended Manchester United's winless run to seven matches across all competitions, leaving the team 20th in the Champions League and 13th in the Premier League. Head coach Michael Carrick faces mounting pressure amid the club's worst start in years.
- Fernandes questioned Carrick's tactical decisions regarding pressing after the match. The head coach responded: "If you don't run, and you don't run forward, and you don't run back, you aren't going to win."
- Pundits criticized the captain for airing grievances publicly. Former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel said Fernandes "probably should not be saying these things," while others labeled the comments a "terrible look" for the club.
- The deeper issue remains whether Manchester United is effectively building for the future, critics argue. Without clear direction, the team continues to struggle with recruitment and tactics despite Fernandes's correct assessment of the club's stagnation.
