Pokémon Pokopia Is Getting Underwater Mechanics and a Bunch of Paid DLC
The split release adds underwater exploration for free and locks Bubbly Basin, new Pokémon and outfits behind a paid pass.
- During the June Nintendo Direct on Tuesday, Nintendo and Game Freak revealed new content for Pokémon Pokopia, including a free underwater Dive update and a paid Expansion Pass launching in August 2026.
- Following the popular game's release earlier this year on the Nintendo Switch, the developer is expanding the title, which blends elements of Minecraft and Animal Crossing, with extensive new content.
- The first paid expansion, Bubbly Basin, arrives in August with a new underwater town, furniture, outfits, and Pokémon like Popplio, Mudkip, and Corphish, while the free update adds the Dive ability.
- Pre-Orders for the Expansion Pass begin today, June 9, granting players access to three forthcoming DLCs, though individual components can also be purchased separately.
- The second expansion drop arrives late this year featuring "additional new features," while a final update in 2027 will introduce another new town to the game.
