'Super happy... Let's Go!' – Tadej Pogačar Back Training Indoors After Vuelta a España Crash
Pogačar said he is taking recovery step by step after injuries ended his Vuelta and World Championships season.
Tadej Pogacar returned to indoor training 17 days after his devastating crash at the Vuelta, where he had led the race by nearly four minutes on stage eight.
The Slovenian crashed after hitting a stone while taking a drink, forcing him out of the race as Movistar rider Enric Mas inherited the lead and won the Vuelta.
Pogacar suffered a stable neck fracture, broken collarbone, and concussion in the high-speed wreck; he underwent successful surgery on August 31 after waiting two days due to concussion concerns.
UAE Team Emirates-XRG extended his contract through 2032 and partnered with MyWhoosh for a 'Train with Tadej' series documenting his 2027 season buildup. Pogacar said, "It's just nice to be back on the bike."
Recovering at home in Monaco, Pogacar is joined by girlfriend Uraka, whose season also ended after re-fracturing her jaw at the Faun Tour Femmes on Saturday.
Slovenian cycling champion Tadej Pogačar has already started training on an exercise bike. Pogačar has had a tough few weeks. His run to his first overall victory at the Vuelta ended prematurely with a serious crash that also deprived the champion of the European and World Championships. He has already supported his latest Instagram post with his typical optimism and fighting spirit.
