Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including defence, economic ties, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, culture and education.
Defence cooperation between India and Armenia has grown significantly in recent years. Armenia has purchased India's indigenously manufactured Pinaka rocket launcher system, Akash air defence system, Swati weapon locating radar, ATAGS Attaks artillery and anti-drone systems from India, and the leaders discussed further expansion of these agreements. Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan invited Indian Prime Minister Modi to visit Armenia.
